The Robert D. Gause Foundation, Inc was created to honor the memory of our son, Robert D. Gause, affectionately known as (Robbie). Robbie passed away on his eighth birthday, September 30, 2001, as the result of an aggressive Asthmatic illness.
Our mission is to educate others about the effects of Asthma, and bring about an awareness of the disease process. Asthma is not contagious, but research confirms genetic transference, it can be passed down through family genes. Seventeen million Americans, five million of them children, have asthma. Even though there is no cure for asthma, it can be treated and controlled.
Through the foundation activities, we have been able to reach out to our hometown neighborhood, Long Beach, New York, educating families about Asthma and performing youth outreach services. In 2004, the inaugural “Robbie Day” was held (613 Riverside Blvd, Long Beach NY), offering asthma literature, free back to school hair services, book bags, and school supplies to more than one hundred school age girls and boys. Snacks, lunch and “Robbie Day” logo t-shirts were also provided for participants.
In 2009, the foundation sponsored the first annual “Asthma Walk” in Long Beach, New York, in support of “Robbie Day;” and to increase funding for asthma medications and nebulizers, for less fortunate families in the neighborhood.
The foundation continues vigorous support of Asthma research in hopes of a cure in the near future.
The Robert D. Gause Foundation, Inc. sincerely appreciates your continued support and participation in the activities that bring Asthma education and hope to our communities.
